Total duration: 104 weeks

 

Qualification description:

This is a trade qualification for carpenters in residential and commercial workplaces. It includes setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing products made using timber and non-timber materials.

Occupational titles may include:

  • Carpenter – Commercial
  • Carpenter – Formwork
  • Carpenter – Residential

Delivering unit of competency:

This qualification has 34 units of competency, comprising of 27 core & 7 elective units.

Academic Pathway

Students will be provided with necessary advice & guidelines on employment and training options throughout the delivery of the course. After achieving the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry learners will have the options to continue their education into a range of qualifications in the building and construction industry.

 

Course Delivery & Assessment Methods

  • Delivery and assessment strategies are selected to reflect the nature of the elements and performance criteria of the competency together with the needs and learning style of the participants. Delivery and assessment method includes a blended learning practice including learning management system (Moodle) and in simulated building worksites.
  • Assessment methodology may include but is not limited to: observation, project/ report, case study, role play, exercises, activities; and written/oral tasks including multiple choice, questions and answer, essays, true/false and presentations.
  • This program is delivered by face to face at AC campus.

 

Entry Requirements

  • Students must be over 18 years of age,
  • Academic requirements
    • Students must have completed an overseas equivalent of Year 12 or
    • Mature age students will also be considered without the minimum education requirements but with relevant work experience within chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements.
  • English requirement:
    • Students must have either an IELTS score of 5.5 total or above with no band lower than 5.0 or
    • Paper based (PBT) TOEFL score of 550 or above or
    • Internet based (iBT) TOEFL score of 78 or above and must provide documentation to that effect or
    • PTE Academic- 43-50 or
    • Successful completion of a qualification from an Institute where mode of instructions was English and where the course duration was no less than 12 months or
    • Completion of an approved English Language course with equivalent level
  • Entry requirements will be checked at enrolment in line with the RTO’s student entry requirements policy.

Session # 2 (Evening) Monday-Thursday: 5:00 pm – 10:15pm
Session # 3  (Weekend) Friday: 5 pm – 10:15 pm
Saturday, Sunday: 8 am – 4 pm
